
Aguda Cinema is a Brazilian film production company founded in 2019 by filmmaker Laís Santos Araújo. Based in Maceió, Alagoas, it focuses on bold narratives and authorial content from the Northeast of Brazil. Together with producer Pedro Krull, who joined the company in 2021, the company produced the short film Infantaria, which was awarded best film in Berlinale Generation 2022 and screened at more than 70 film festivals. The company produced the fiction short Como Ficamos da Mesma Altura (2019), directed by Laís, and the short documentary Ainda te Amo Demais (2021), directed by Flávia Correia. These productions have been screened at festivals such as Rotterdam, Cartagena, Palm Springs, São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Olhar de Cinema and Tiradentes. Marina, Laís' first feature film, co-directed with Pethrus Tibúrcio,was shot in 2025 with support from the Hubert Bals Fund and has participated in labs such as BoostNL and CineMart. Aguda Cinema has two feature films in development, Love is Love (directed by Paulo Silver) and Infantaria (Laís second feature film), both financed in Brazil and participating in development programmes such as La Fabrique, CineLatino Toulouse, BrLab, Projeto Paradiso and CineMundi.
